Move Beyond the Ordinary Landscape Photo with The Art, Science, and Craft of Great Landscape Photography – Santa Barbara, CA— 2015
With so many landscape images taken every day, how can one create a landscape photograph that stands out from the crowd? Renowned photographer, author, and instructor Glenn Randall has been creating spectacular images for decades, and now shares his hard-earned wisdom in his latest book, The Art, Science, and Craft of Landscape Photography.
In this book, there are discussions about exposure and composition—providing the best techniques to calculate exposure in even the most challenging lighting conditions. Randall also dives into compositional techniques, moving beyond the basics to discuss color, balance, and depth. He addresses key scientific concepts that impact landscape photography, such as geography, optics, vision, and psychology. Included in these discussions is how he uses contemporary technology to aid in his preparation, as well as coverage of digital capture techniques and postprocessing to achieve spectacular landscape photographs.
The depth of coverage and breadth of imagery are truly astonishing, as Randall covers images taken at the edges of the day—sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset. He also dives into nighty photography, covering everything from shooting the Milky Way to capturing the perfect shot of star trails.
Whether you want to venture deep into the wilderness for once-in-a-lifetime shots in pursuit of your own “visual peak experiences” or you simply want to hone your landscape photography skills from the safety of your backyard, Randall’s comprehensive guide is sure to benefit any landscape photographer.
The Art, Science, and Craft of Great Landscape Photography is intended for those who already understand the basics of photography and are ready to master the finer nuances of creating magnificent landscape photographs.
