USAF 1951 resolution test
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
A test chart developed by the US Air Force in 1951 to measure the resolution of cameras and microscopes. The 1951 chart has been supplanted by more current versions that are easier to use and that allow software to automatically determine resolution values. Modern versions also make it easier to determine lens aberrations located in corners and to check the resolution of scanners. See also test chart; resolution
