Thermal wax transfer printer
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
Also called thermal transfer printer. A printer that works by melting a wax ribbon with a heated print head to transfer the wax to paper. Although color thermal wax transfer is possible, color printers are not as common as black and white in this type of printing. Thermal wax transfer printers are often used to print merchandise tags and barcodes because the paper lasts longer than when used in thermal printers. See also thermal printer
