ONLINE GLOSSARY OF DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPY

Sub pixel

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

Pixels that represent only one color. Typical digital camera sensors and LCD screens have three sub pixels for each pixel. There is a red, a green, and a blue (RGB) sub pixel, which, together, make up one pixel. Some systems treat the three sub pixels as one pixel; some systems treat each one separately, doing separate calculations for each sub pixel. See also pixel
