Slide
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
Transparencies fixed in individual mounts. The most common type of slide is a 35mm image mounted in a two-inch square cardboard, plastic, or metal mount. These slides are used for projection through a projector. Before the advent of digital imaging, slides were the most common type of image original used for reproduction. Today, slides can be easily and inexpensively made from digital images that may be
needed for projection in a facility that does not have a digital projector.
