ONLINE GLOSSARY OF DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPY

Shutter lag

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

The period of time from when the shutter release is pressed to when the actual exposure occurs. With some digital cameras, this period is long enough to interfere with capturing moving objects or subjects, such as those seen at sporting events. Shutter lag should definitely be considered when purchasing a digital camera.
