A digital image of the image (or portion thereof) displayed on the monitor screen. A screen shot is usually created with a special software program and can be used to illustrate what a program is doing, copy an error message, or capture important information. It is created with a few keystrokes and then saved as a digital image, if desired. The image can be saved as a TIFF or JPEG file, among others, depending on the software.
