Scattering

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

The process of light rays deflecting in random directions as they strike particles in the air or move through a transparent medium, causing them to diffuse, and even change frequency, which alters the color. Scattering results in color changes such as the blues of the sky and the reds of the sunrise and sunset.
