Scanner
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
An electronic device used for converting an analog image—in the form of a negative, transparency, or print—into a digital image. There are several types of scanners, including a flat-bed scanner, drum scanner, and transparency scanner. The drum scanner is generally the most expensive and produces the highest quality. The transparency scanner, which scans images such as negatives and transparencies, generally produces a higher-quality digital-image scan than a flat-bed scanner.
