Save-for-Web command
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
A function in Photoshop's Image Ready and similar image-manipulation programs that saves images in their smallest possible size. One way to achieve this minimum size is to remove all metadata. Digital photographers should be very careful about using this function because, without the metadata present, their images could be left unidentified. Orphan works legislation has been proposed in the United States that would allow anyone to use unidentified images without fear of copyright violation. Other methods available to reduce image size include the quality level of the JPEG and number of colors on a GIF format. See also metadata; JPEG; GIF
