Sabbatier effect
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
Commonly, but improperly, called solarization. A photographic effect produced in analog photography by flashing the image with light while it is still in the development phase. The image takes on a surreal look because some areas are negative and some positive. Photoshop now offers filters that can digitally produce a similar effect. Manipulation of curves in Photoshop can also produce a similar look.
