SWF format

A vector-graphics file format created by FutureWave, which was acquired by Macromedia and now belongs to Adobe. Flash software produces animations that are stored as SWF formatted files. SWF is a compressed file format created for use on the Web. Since it was developed, it has been extended to allow audio and video storage as well. Adobe's Flash Player will play the files.
