Read-out register
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
A part of a CCD in which the charges from the photosites are accumulated row by row. The read-out register reads an entire row at a time on the CCD. The value from the read-out register is then sent to an output amplifier and an analog-to-digital converter before being output. See also CCD; Analog-to-digital converter (A/D converter)
