Raster scan
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
The display technique used in televisions and computer monitors. The scan goes from left to right and from top to bottom to display the entire image. The image is a raster because it is made up of pixels in straight scan lines. Sometimes the image is displayed in two separate fields with one field made up of the even scan lines and the second field made up of the odd scan lines. Thus it takes two complete fields to show the entire image. This is the technique used in analog television sets.
