Raccoon eyes

Refers to portraits of people

with undesirable dark circles around the eyes. Because of improper lighting, the eyes are not fully lit and therefore surrounded by dark circles. The shape of the face and location of the light source affect the degree of darkness. The cure for this problem is fill-lighting, using either a reflector or auxiliary lighting such as a flash.
