Pixel dropping

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

A technique used to reduce the size (in pixels) of an image by simply dropping pixels in a regular pattern, depending on the size of the reduction desired. Pixel dropping is simpler than other techniques, but it doesn't achieve the results of such techniques as linear interpolation, bicubic interpolation, or bilinear interpolation.
