Pixel
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
The smallest digital photographic element. Pixel stands for picture (or pix) element. Each pixel is made of a red, green, and blue (RGB) component. A number from 0 to 255 represents each of these colored components. Three numbers represent an individual pixel. For example, 0,0,0 represents the amount of RGB colors in a black pixel; white is 255, 255, 255; pure red is 255,0,0. Over 16 million colors can be represented using this type of notation.
