From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

Refers to the actual number of pixels on a display device. Native resolution is often used to describe the physical number of liquid crystal cells in a LCD monitor because this is the resolution that will provide the best display. If any other resolution is used, the image will be degraded by interpolation.
