ONLINE GLOSSARY OF DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPY

Moral rights

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

Those rights given to creators—such as photographers, authors, artists, and composers— of copyrightable intellectual property that are separate from the copyright and that always belong to the creator. These rights are differentiated from the economic rights of copyright ownership. Moral rights include the right of attribution (to be known as the creator of the work regardless of who owns the copyright), the right not to have authorship falsely attributed, and the right of integrity (the creator may object to the derogatory treatment of the work). Not all countries recognize moral rights to the same extent.
