Microdrive
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
A miniature hard drive the size and shape of a CompactFlash (CF) card. When CF cards first came out, microdrives were the only way to get larger storage amounts of up to 1 GB. Microdrives are more delicate than CF cards and subject to destruction if dropped on a hard surface. Since they are a miniature hard drive, they have moving parts that are subject to wear and tear. Microdrives have largely been replaced by larger and cheaper CF Cards. See also CompactFlash card
