Metamerism

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

An effect seen with some digital printing paper-and-ink combinations where the image looks different under different types of light, such as incandescent and sunlight. Pigment-based inks seem to exhibit this problem more frequently than other types of inks. Instrument metamerism can also occur in a scanner when two different colors scan the same or two identical colors scan differently.
