A unit of measure used for a printing system's resolution. Successively finer pairs of lines are scribed onto a chart that is photographed or scanned and reproduced as a printed halftone. The pair of lines with the smallest distance between them that can be discerned in the final print will determine the printing resolution in lines per inch. See halftone
