Information Interchange Model (IIM)
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
Developed by Adobe Systems to gather and insert metadata into image files such as JPEG, TIFF, and PSD. This IIM is a subset of IPTC and became the IPTC header. The data is wrapped in an image resource block before inserting into the header. Today this process is being phased out and replaced by XMP, also developed by Adobe Systems. The old format is now known as legacy IPTC or legacy image resource block. See also IPTC; IPTC header; image resource block (IRB); XMP
