Image stabilization
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
The process of reducing the effect of camera and lens movement. This process is done by an image stabilizer, a device built into some digital cameras or lenses. There are several ways to accomplish image stabilization: (1) moving the optical path slightly to counteract the movement (a method called optical image stabilization); (2) moving the image sensor slightly to accomplish the same goal (a method called anti-shake); (3) adjusting the image in digital video cameras from frame to frame to counteract the movement.
