A collection of images stored in digital format for easy access. Specialized database software is designed to make accessing images easy through the use of keywords and other metadata. There are a number of new programs available, such as Apple's Aperture and iPhoto, and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom that provide a simple image database to go along with image editing and processing software.
