Hot mirror

A mirror that reflects infrared radiation and transmits other forms of radiation such as visible light. Hot mirrors are used in optical devices to protect them from heat. An example would be the use in a slide or digital projector to protect the slide or internal components of the projector from the heat produced by the very bright and hot projection bulb.
