History brush tool

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

A tool in Photoshop that allows the user to paint back the former state of a changed image. This function can be useful when blurring an image, for example, and then painting back certain areas to be sharp. Alternatively, an image can be sharpened, and those areas with sharpening artifacts can be painted such that the former unsharpened state appears.
