HSV
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
An abbreviation for the 'hue, saturation, and value' color space. Sometimes called the HSB or HSB color model. HSV is similar to HSL, but not the same. HSV is not symmetrical to darkness and lightness, but HSL is. Each pixel in the HSV color space is made up of the three values. Hue is measured in degrees (0 to 360), utilizing a standard color wheel. Saturation is measured from 0.0 to 1.0, with 0.0 being gray and 1.0 being the pure color. If the Value is at a maximum, then Saturation will go from white to the pure color, unlike HSL. Value (or brightness) is also measured from 0.0 to 1.0, with 0.0 being black and 1.0 being white. A value equal to 1.0 gives the pure color or hue. Thus a pixel with the values of (x, 1.0, 0.5) represents the pure hue for the color 'x' with x being the location on the color wheel.
