Gray card

A card, usually with a single shade of gray of 18%, that is used to test the linearity and color balance of a photographic system. It is often used in lighting tests to ensure proper exposure. It is sometimes used as a shortened name for an 18% gray card. See also 18% gray (see figure on page 169)
