Gradient fill

A tool in Photoshop and other image-manipulation programs used to create a background color that is evenly shaded or blended from dark to light or from one color to another. The smooth transition can be from top to bottom, side to side, or on a diagonal. All of these options can be selected by using the gradient fill tool.
