From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

Also known as screen flicker. A rapid changing in the brightness of an image on a display. Flicker is more common with CRT displays than with other types. The screen refresh rate usually will determine if a screen will flicker. This rate can usually be set on the display. The exact rate needed to prevent flicker will be determined by how the screen is used and the environment it is used in. Typically, computer displays are set at 70 to 80 Hz to prevent flicker.
