Flat

The quality of having many tones between the whitest and blackest parts of an image. Often, a flat image has no pure white and pure black tones. Most of the tones are middle gray variations. An image that does not have a lot of contrast is said to be flat. A flat image is the opposite of a contrasty image. See also contrasty
