Flash terminal

The method of connection between the flash and the camera so that its operation can be synchronized. There are two types of terminals used in modern digital cameras. The first is the hot shoe terminal, where the flash makes contact through its foot when attached to the top of the camera. The second is a small connector called a PC connector, where a cord from the flash unit can be attached. See also PC connector; hot shoe connector (see figure on page 151)
