Exposure factor

An exposure adjustment used to correct the exposure when using filters when the camera does not have through-the-lens metering, or for special lighting situations. Typically the exposure factor is given as a number of stops, or fractional stops, which the exposure must be increased to compensate for light loss through a filter.
