(1) The selection of images by an editor—to show to a client, for example. Photographers edit their photographs to show their portrait, wedding, commercial, or other clients a selection of images. Editors at stock agencies edit image submissions made by photographers to select images to include in the stock agency's collection and to choose images from their collection to show to potential stock image licensors. (2) The retouching done on individual images. Software used for retouching is sometimes called photo-editing software.
