ONLINE GLOSSARY OF DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPY

Drive speed

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

Refers to how fast a hard drive, CD drive, or a DVD drive operates, or spins. The faster it can spin, the faster it can access data. When reading or writing large image files to one of those drives, a faster drive usually means that the operation will finish sooner. When processing and saving, or burning large numbers of images, the increased speed and time saved can really add up.
