Dot pitch

From The Glossary of Digital Photography

Jump to: navigation, search

(1) A measurement used to compare computer monitors. The distance between phosphor dots is measured in millimeters. Usually, the smaller the dot pitch, the sharper the monitor. When comparing the dot pitch between two monitors, it is important to note if they are using the same measurement of either diagonal or horizontal dot pitch. Horizontal dot pitch will generally give smaller numbers than diagonal. Diagonal dot pitch is generally considered to be a better representation of monitor display quality. (2) The measure of the size of the RGB triad, plus the distance between them. See also dot
