Dark noise

The noise caused by dark current. The dark current, which is caused by heat, builds up on a sensor and causes a random noise. Dark noise can be reduced by cooling the image sensor; it can be eliminated by using a technique called dark noise subtraction. See also dark current; dark noise subtraction
