Cut/paste
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
A common operation done on a computer to move data, such as moving keywords from one location to another by literally cutting them out electronically and pasting them into the new location. This function can also be done in Photoshop by selecting portions of images, cutting them out, and pasting them in a new location or a new image. Cutting is done by highlighting the portion of interest, then using the command cut (usually the keyboard shortcut is the x key pressed simultaneously with the command or alt key). Next, to do the pasting, move to the new location and, using the command paste (the keyboard shortcut often uses the v key, pressed with the command or alt key), the information previously cut out is now pasted into the new location.
