Curvilinear distortion

A distortion in the image causing straight lines to appear curved. This is a common lens aberration in wide-angle lenses. Depending on the direction that the lines are curved, the lens aberration can be classified as barrel distortion or pincushion distortion. See also barrel distortion; pincushion distortion
