Jump to: navigation, search

Used in polarized light microscopy. Two polarizers are set up at right angles to each other. Light that passes through the first polarizer is blocked by the second. In polarized light microscopy, one polarizer is between the sample and the light and the other is between the sample and the viewing lens. Certain types of crystals can be revealed under this type of lighting.
