Correction of aberrations at close distance focusing

Also called close range correction system (CRC). As lenses focus at close distances, aberrations that were not seen at infinity become visible. Some lenses have built-in corrections that move lens elements inside the lens as it focuses more closely so that it can correct for these aberrations as much as possible.
