ColorSync
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
A color management system developed by Apple to provide color matching between different devices. Initially, ColorSync was developed for the Macintosh computer, but later versions were developed to be cross-platform, enabling them to work on PCs as well. The International Color Consortium was co-founded by Apple to develop the cross-platform version of ColorSync. ColorSync utilizes device-specific profiles to produce the color matches as images travel between devices. These profiles are what synchronize the colors so the appearance of the image stays as constant as possible given the constraints of the hardware device itself. See also profile
