Celsius (C)
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
The unit of temperature used in the SI measurement system. In the Celsius temperature scale, the freezing point of water was defined as 00 C and the boiling point of water at 1000 C until 1954, when the definition was shifted slightly to make the reference points more uniform. Anders Celsius first proposed the scale in 1742, hence its name. Until 1948 Celsius was referred to as centigrade. Even after nearly sixty years, the term centigrade is still used in many places. The full name of the term is degree Celsius. In the United States, the temperature scale more commonly used is Fahrenheit. See also Fahrenheit (0F)
