Candle

Natural light producing object that creates light by burning various materials such as paraffin, beeswax, and plant waxes. A candle that produces a luminous intensity of about one candela is known as a standard candle. At one time the intensity of light was stated in terms of candlepower. This term has been replaced by candela. See also candela (cd)
