Bilinear filtering

A filtering or interpolation technique used when enlarging or reducing the size of an image. Two other techniques are nearest neighbor and bicubic. Bilinear techniques work satisfactorily only when a dimension of an image is halved or doubled. Outside of that range, bilinear filtering interpolation breaks down and other techniques work better.
