Application

A software computer program used to perform a function. Photoshop is an example of an application. Digital photographers use various applications to process their images, to organize them, to back them up, and to deliver images to their clients. It is not unusual to have hundreds of applications available for use on a computer. Nearly all computers come with a variety of general-purpose applications. Digital cameras typically include several computer programs in their accessory pack.
