The size of the area that can be seen by a lens. It is measured as a diagonal, angular field. The size is determined by the focal length of the lens used. A short focal-length lens is described as a wide-angle lens because it has a larger angle of view. A long focal-length lens is called a telephoto lens and has a narrower or smaller angle of view.
