Active-matrix display
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
Also called thin-film transistor (TFT) display active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD), or, more commonly, liquid crystal display (LCD). A type of a display used in digital cameras and computers. These are the primary types of displays used in digital cameras and laptop computers. LCD displays have nearly replaced CRT types of displays or monitors for desktop computers as well. Active-matrix-displays use less energy than an equivalent CRT and take up less desk space. They are sometimes more difficult to calibrate.
