Action
From The Glossary of Digital Photography
A function in Adobe Photoshop and similar software programs that allows a series of different tasks to be stored as a single command. This greatly speeds up the processing of digital images. For example, a photographer can create an action that resizes an image, converts to a different color space, adds contact information in the metadata, applies a visible watermark, and then saves it as a JPEG in a different folder. This could be useful, for instance, in producing a series of thumbnails or proofs to send to a client for viewing. Adobe Photoshop comes with a few generic actions already available for use. An action can be set up so that it is easily
triggered by the use of a droplet. See also droplet
